Overview

When Pilates Plus OC approached me, it wasn’t just about a new website—it was about a full evolution of their brand. With new ownership and a refreshed vision, it became clear early on that the existing identity simply wasn’t scalable or reflective of where the business was headed. The goal was to reimagine the brand from the ground up and position it as bold, elevated, and future-ready. The result? MEGAWELL — a name, a voice, and a look that set the tone for everything that followed.

The Challenge: A Brand That Had Outgrown Itself

When I first connected with the team at Pilates Plus OC, I didn’t jump into visuals or wireframes. We started with a conversation—a real one. And that’s when I learned something that shaped everything:

The brand wasn’t broken… it just wasn’t built for what was coming next.

The business had evolved. New leadership, bigger goals, a broader vision. But the original brand identity? It was holding them back—visually, strategically, and emotionally. It wasn’t scalable. It didn’t communicate the level of sophistication or experience they were actually offering. And most importantly, it didn’t feel like them anymore.

That’s where I came in.

Discovery: Asking the Right Questions First

Before touching a single pixel, I led a full brand discovery session with stakeholders to understand the deeper “why.”

Was this a vanity redesign? A new trend to chase? No. The answer was clear:

“Our current brand doesn’t represent where we’re going.”

That level of clarity gave me the freedom to zoom out and design with the future in mind. Through strategy calls, creative direction workshops, and visual alignment exercises, we mapped out everything—from tone and brand energy to how the visual identity should feel when someone walked into a studio or landed on the homepage.

Stakeholder Vision Meets Creative Guidance

The team had a strong point of view on what they wanted—which I loved. I wasn’t just designing for them; I was designing with them. And while they had ideas, they trusted me to explore directions that reflected the goals we uncovered during discovery.

We went through multiple rounds of logo concepts—clean, bold, stylized directions with varying degrees of edge and elegance. I kept everything in black and white intentionally. I didn’t want color to distract us from choosing the right formfirst. We talked about usability, scalability, print performance, and how each direction held up at 1 inch vs 10 feet.

After a few rounds, we landed on a version that just… felt right. Bold. Balanced. Unapologetically simple.

Building a System, Not Just a Logo

Once we locked in the core identity, I built out a flexible system around it, including:

• Logo variations and social lockups

• Typography system with visual hierarchy

• Usage guidelines for digital and print

• Color palette and accessibility contrast ratios

• Iconography and early creative direction for the website

Everything was designed to scale—across signage, apparel, digital experiences, and whatever else the brand might grow into.

Designing for Movement: The UX Behind The Brand

After establishing Mega Well’s elevated and serene brand identity, the next phase of the project focused on translating that essence into a digital experience that felt just as thoughtful. The goal was clear: deliver a seamless, mobile-first website that not only reflected the brand’s unique presence in the Pilates space but also made class discovery and booking effortless.

The original Mega Well site lacked a cohesive brand identity and suffered from a dated, inconsistent interface. The client wanted to stand out from a saturated wellness market while making it easy for users to explore classes, book sessions, and understand the studio’s unique offerings.

The primary goal was to create a premium, user-centered digital identity that not only reflected their distinctive approach to Pilates but also delivered an exceptional and intuitive user experience for their clients.

Goals:

  • Redesign the brand to feel elevated, serene, and contemporary

  • Craft a distinct visual identity that sets Mega Well apart from generic fitness brands

  • Create an intuitive, conversion-optimized website that makes scheduling and navigation seamless

  • Prioritize mobile UX for users on the go

Understanding the Users

Mega Well’s audience is primarily health-conscious professionals and wellness seekers, ranging from first-time Pilates clients to those familiar with Megaformer workouts. Through discovery interviews and reviewing industry standards, I identified key user expectations:

  • A clear explanation of what Mega Well offers

  • Easy access to class types, schedules, and pricing

  • Confidence in booking through social proof and visual cues

  • A polished, modern interface that matches the premium feel of the studio

This informed a strategy focused on education, accessibility, and frictionless booking.

Wireframes & User Flows

I created low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to visualize each step of the user journey. The most critical path—landing → understanding → booking—was mapped and optimized for speed and clarity.

Notable flow strategies:

  • Booking CTAs repeated in all core pages (no dead ends)

  • Testimonials and instructor highlights placed near decision points

  • Sticky “Book a Class” button on mobile for high conversion

High-Fidelity Design

Once structure and flow were validated, I moved to high-fidelity UI design, aligning every visual element with the new brand system. The interface combined soft tones, elegant typography, and confident white space to reflect calm energy.

Key features:

  • Interactive Schedule Grid – Optimized for quick scanning and filters

  • Floating Action CTA – Persistent access to booking on all devices

  • Visual Class Cards – With hover animations and modal previews

  • Typography Hierarchy – To guide scanning and improve legibility

  • Subtle Motion – On-scroll fades and transitions to echo physical movement and mindfulness

Outcome & Next Steps

Client feedback highlighted the elegance, ease of use, and premium feel. While development  was done in Wordpress the work already shows:

  • Higher engagement with schedule + class sections

  • 2x clickthrough rate on mobile CTAs vs. previous site

  • Improved scan time across key content areas

Future phases may include:

  • Class package eCommerce

  • Instructor booking

  • Blog or wellness content hub
